Located in northwest-central North Carolina, Greesboro today is the third-largest city within the state. Founded in the late 1700s, modern-day Greensboro is a vibrant, bustling city and now home to an increasing number of American banking institutions and corporate headquarters. The city offers an array of attractions to visitors including the historically-significant site of the 1960 Woolworths sit-ins from the US Civil Rights Movement, beautiful Bicentennial Garden, the many public events and festivals in Greensboro Center City Park, 17-acre Greensboro Arboretum, Blandwood Mansion, which offers the earliest example of Tuscan Italianate architecture in the US, the Natural Science Center and Zoo of Greensboro offers hands-on family entertainment, as does the Greensboro Children's Museum, and Wet-n-Wild Emerald Pointe.
The city also offers many events at The Greensboro Coliseum Complex, a multi-building facility which hosts a range of activities including athletic and cultural events, concerts, theater, fairs, exhibits; and various other public and private events such as conventions, lectures and trade shows.
